Winter Weather UpdateJul 11, 2017
The team at TIL Freight would like to issue a winter weather advisory. As you may be aware, unfavourable weather conditions have been forecast for the South Island today and continuing over the next 48-72 hours in both the South and North Island.
There are road closures already in place this afternoon and if snow reaches forecast levels we expect substantially more closures over the next 24 hours.
There is snow forecast down to 200 metres and in areas such as Canterbury to sea level. This will mean that the Dunedin Motorway and Kilmog will face closure. South of Dunedin to Invercargill will face closure. The Lewis / Arthurs Pass and alternative route will face closure. All alpine passes will also be affected. The Central Otago regional is affected by ice and freezing fog.
In light of these weather disruptions, we would like to advise that we do anticipate significant delays and/or cancelled Linehaul services into these areas. Normal transit and delivery times will be impacted.
We have also received communication of expected swells in the Cook Strait in the vicinity of 8 meters. Should this occur, we also expect we will encounter cancelled ferry sailings for inter island freight units.
Our team will be working through the situation as it develops and we will provide further information once known.
We understand that such forecasted inclement weather conditions would and or could place additional impact on your clientele. TIL Freight will ensure that any impact is kept to a minimum and will communicate fully with you should disruptions occur, so you in turn, can provide up to date information to your customers. TIL Freight appreciates that you will understand, as a Business we do not wish to place our staff in any situation that compromises their safety and or the integrity of your commodities.
